Job Title: Transport Planner Location: Kirkbymoorside Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum Schedule: Monday to Friday Benefits: Competitive salary Company pension Opportunities for development and progression Supportive team environment Key Responsibilities: Schedule vehicles and drivers on a daily and weekly basis, producing clear load plans and driver paperwork packs. Communicate plans effectively to drivers, farmers, customers and field staff, providing prompt updates when changes occur. Supervise drivers in real time using vehicle tracking systems, resolving delays and adjusting plans to meet unforeseen conditions. Manage external hauliers by issuing correct documentation and monitoring progress. Ensure all drivers have the required customer and regulatory documents, including pig movement licences and export declarations. Maintain driver rotas, manage holiday cover and ensure compliance with driver hours regulations and infringement procedures. Book vehicle inspections, MOTs, maintenance and defect repairs with the in-house garage. Support the Transport Manager with transport compliance documentation. Create and update driver route risk assessments and assist the Health & Safety team with safe systems of work and SOPs. Skills / Experience: Previous experience in transport planning, logistics coordination or a similar operational role. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Solid understanding of transport compliance, including driver hours, vehicle maintenance requirements and regulatory documents. Confident communicator able to liaise effectively with drivers, farmers, customers and colleagues across various communication methods. Ability to work under pressure, adapt plans in real time and provide practical solutions to unexpected challenges. Competent IT skills, including vehicle tracking systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in planning, paperwork and compliance records.
