About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Data Protection Manager to join the Data Protection team at Pets at Home Group.
Reporting to the Group Data Protection Officer (DPO), this role will support in ensuring compliance with data protection laws across the group.
The team deals with a wide and interesting range of work, including processing of DPIAs and other impact assessments as appropriate, dealing with data subject rights requests, investigating data breaches, managing complaints, managing record keeping and assisting the business with privacy related projects and queries.


Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct and manage Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (where appropriate) (LIAs) and Transfer Impact Assessments (where appropriate) (TIAs) on group projects and other processing of personal data.
2. Support the processing of data subject rights requests and third-party data requests.
3. Investigate and respond to data protection-related complaints from data subjects (consumer and colleague).
4. Work closely with other business areas to support internal and external audit teams in conducting data protection audits.
5. Deliver training to colleagues and increase awareness across the group on data protection related matters.
6. Investigate personal data breaches, identify remedial actions and managing data breach register.
7. Monitor compliance with data protection-related policies and processes, including conducting regular internal compliance checks.
8. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience within the team and for the wider business.
9. Responsible for keeping the Records of Processing Activities up to date.
10. Supports DPO with implementation of the data protection strategy and other data protection work.
11. Maintain expert knowledge of data protection and privacy law, regulation, practices and related guidance in relevant jurisdictions.
12. Maintain and continue to build an expert knowledge of the organisation, policies, procedures and processes.
Skills Required
Essential:
13. One to three years' experience in similar role
14. Excellent in-depth knowledge of UK data protection law and related privacy practices
15. Excellent in-depth knowledge of the PECR
16. Experience managing and evaluating DPIAs and other impact assessments (LIAs and TIAs)
17. Experience managing and processing data subject rights requests
18. Previous in-depth experience of handling customer complaints effectively
19. Experience of successfully managing, investigating and remediating personal data breaches
20. Demonstrable experience of successfully managing a small team
21. Able to work individually and as part of a team with minimal supervision
22. Experience of organising and planning your own workload, with an ability to prioritise tasks to be able to meet various competing deadlines
23. High standard of literacy and effective written communication skills for writing letters, reports, policies, procedures, briefing and meeting notes
24. Experience of developing and implementing projects and processes
25. Good understanding of information security principles
26. Ability to work autonomously and with respect for reporting and escalation procedures
27. Ability to advise commercially and pragmatically on advisory work
28. Excellent communication skills with an excellent command of spoken and written English
29. A positive “can do” attitude
