Offer description

Nexperia Manchester are now seeking a Multiskilled Equipment Engineering Technician to join our 100‑strong on‑site Equipment team and help shape the future of our operations.

What you will do

As a Multiskilled Equipment Engineering Technician, you will be a key contributor to our manufacturing operations, carrying out routine maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, and performing root‑cause analysis on complex, high‑tech wafer‑fab systems. Working a 7–7 shift pattern—two weeks of days followed by one week of nights—you’ll operate on 12‑hour shifts with four days off each week. You’ll diagnose faults swiftly, execute repairs efficiently, and understand how your work directly influences semiconductor yield. You’ll also play an active role in optimising maintenance procedures using available KPIs, ensuring strong spare‑parts control, and upholding exemplary 5S standards. In addition, you will use the factory MES platform to plan and carry out preventative maintenance, update equipment histories, and maintain full compliance with health and safety requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Preventative Maintenance: Assist in the planning and execution of preventative maintenance activities, ensuring that all equipment is operating at peak performance
2. Maintenance & Repairs: Carry out maintenance procedures and root cause analysis on a variety of diffusion wafer processing equipment, ensuring rapid and effective resolution of issues
3. Spare Stock Control: Manage spare parts efficiently, ensuring stock levels are maintained and materials are readily available when needed
4. Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict health and safety directives while carrying out all maintenance and repair work
5. KPI Improvement: Analyse data to identify opportunities for cost-effective maintenance programs that improve equipment performance and drive KPIs forward
6. Team Collaboration: Foster strong working relationships with internal team members and external specialists to ensure smooth operations and effective problem-solving

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to develop your expertise in Equipment Engineering and Maintenance within a fast‑paced, high‑tech manufacturing environment. At Nexperia, you’ll benefit from a blend of formal and on‑the‑job training, with clear pathways to progress through both technical and managerial career ladders as you grow.

What you will need:

7. You must be able to work a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off over 12 hours. This will consist of 2 weeks of days and 1 week of nights (7-7)
8. Completed a mechanical/electrical apprenticeship and educated to a minimum of C&G /ONC standard, or have worked at this level in a similar industry
9. Hard skills of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, vacuum, pneumatic, or actuation
10. Soft skills of adaptability, problem-solving, teamwork, and Microsoft Office
11. A track record of meeting deadlines and managing your own workload
12. Desire to learn and progress into becoming a fully qualified specialist Equipment Engineer
