About the Role
Are you ready to take the next step in your engineering career? GHD is looking for a Senior or Principal Civil/Structural Engineer to join our growing team in the UK. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the water, industrial, and infrastructure sectors — all while contributing to the successful delivery of high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions.
You’ll be a key player in our multidisciplinary teams, helping to shape the built environment through innovative design, technical leadership, and collaborative project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver civil and structural designs, calculations, and technical drawings across a variety of materials and structural forms.
2. Lead medium-sized projects and contribute to larger, complex multidisciplinary projects.
3. Support financial and commercial management of engineering commissions.
4. Mentor and guide junior engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning.
5. Apply engineering principles and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
6. Use CAD, 3D modelling, and BIM tools to develop and refine design solutions.
7. Collaborate with project managers, design managers, and technical leads to achieve best-for-project outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
8. Strong experience in civil/structural engineering design, particularly in water and industrial sectors.
9. Proficiency in geotechnical design, including retaining walls and foundations.
10. Ability to produce and review high-quality design documentation and reports.
11. Understanding of how other building engineering disciplines influence structural design.
12. Familiarity with Eurocodes and leading structural design software (., Tekla/TEDDS, Robot).
13. Experience with 3D Revit modelling and BIM processes.
14. Proven ability to lead and manage engineering projects.
15. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Qualifications & Skills
16. Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (with advanced structural analysis and design).
17. Chartered Engineer status (IStructE or ICE).
18. Experience mentoring junior team members.
19. Knowledge of engineering practices in water, transportation, industrial, or energy sectors.
