An established and well-respected civil engineering and groundworks contractor based in Derby with nationwide operations and a strong reputation in the infrastructure andmercial sectors. This multi-accredited contractor works on a variety of low to high value projects for both public and private sector clients, and theirmitment to delivering an exceptional standard of work has positioned them as a leader in the industry. Due to continued success, they are actively seeking an Estimator to join their high-performing team.
This is a full-time permanent position based out of their Derby office.
Your new role
As an Estimator, your key responsibilities will include:
 1. Leading the estimating function for civil engineering and groundworks projects
 2. Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications to fully understand project requirements
 3. Preparing cost estimates including materials, plant, labour and subcontractors
 4. Identifying and evaluating project risks, opportunities and value engineering options
 5. Managing and coordinating subcontractors and supplier enquiries, ensuringpetitive quotations are obtained
 6. Leading tender adjudication meetings, presenting costs, risks andmercial considerations to senior management
 7. Supporting bid submissions with written methodology, programme input and supporting documentation
 8. Liaising with clients, consultants and supply chain partners during pre- and post-tender negotiations
 9. Ensuring all estimating activities are carried out inpliance withpany procedures
 10. Supporting handover to operations teams on successful tenders, ensuring clarity of scope, risks and assumptions.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must have:
 11. Proven experience in estimating within civil engineering and/or groundworks, ideally with a main contractor
 12. Sound understanding of construction methods, sequencing and programming
 13. Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and work to deadlines
 14. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
 15. Strongmercial acumen with excellentmunication and interpersonal skills.
