What's involved with this role: Interim Finance Manager - Adults Service Reference no: Kirklees 0008 D3F5 / 1 Pay rate: Up to £395.90 per day PAYE depending on experience Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 7 months City: HUDDERSFIELD, West Yorkshire Hybrid working Standard DBS required for this role A Finance Manager (Adults Service) is required to undertake independent quantification of the financial impacts of improvement work, including the activity detailed below: Key responsibilities: Cost-benefit sense check - to quantify both the costs associated with implementing the programme and the expected benefits it will generate over time. This will leave a ROI number. Overall financial outcomes of the improvement programme, cost savings, increased efficiencies, and any other financial impacts of the programme. Support is required to assess the full range of potential financial outcomes to fully understand the impact. Finance KPIs - to understand what might be measured to reassure/identify issues early by tracking key indicators. Financial Reporting - to highlight the financial gains achieved or expected to be achieved as a result of the programme that will help to gain a comprehensive understanding of its financial impact. Experience: Experience in the application of resource and business planning within a local authority or similarly complex organisation. Experience of complex financial systems in a large organisation. Experience of supporting the preparation of budgets, medium term financial and service plans and introducing appropriate mechanisms to monitor their activity. Ability to advise and motivate senior managers and finance staff and prioritise workloads. Experience of supporting managers in producing sound and robust business cases for the investment of resource in the service. Experience of helping service managers in identifying and managing risk. Experience of giving advice on financial issues to managers and other stakeholders. Experience of managing the preparation of annual accounts. Knowledge: An awareness of the current issues affecting local government and the financial implications for local authorities. Knowledge of professional accounting standards. Skills & Abilities: Ability to support managers in the development of finance services. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
