We are currently recruiting Solicitors for a high-profile Public Inquiry in Scotland, focusing on the strategic handling of Covid-19 and its impact on human rights. This contract role offers the opportunity to work on an important national project, making a tangible difference while advancing your legal career. You will provide expert legal advice, assist with evidence collection, and coordinate witness statements, all while working closely with diverse teams to meet the inquiry’s objectives.
Candidate Responsibilities for the Solicitors:
* Provide legal advice to the Chair and Inquiry team regarding the Inquiries Act 2005 and various regulations
* Assist in identifying, sourcing, and recovering evidence, including reviewing large volumes of documents
* Draft, review, and ensure compliance with procedures and protocols
* Manage evidence disclosure, redaction, and GDPR compliance
* Support hearings and contribute to the production of the final inquiry report
About You You will demonstrate:
* Qualification as a solicitor or advocate in Scottish law
* Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to analyse large volumes of complex material
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Additional:
This contract is initially for a 12-month period with possible extension, with a 2 days in the office- 35hrs a week (full-time) working pattern, based in central Edinburgh with flexible hybrid options available. During hearings, longer working hours may be required, and remote working arrangements might be limited to ensure the smooth running of the inquiry.
Salary: Grade C1 (£62111 per annum)
Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid – 2 days in office)
Ltd Day Rate: £326.04 - PAye: (INC) £276.66
