Job Description
Are you a results-driven leader with a passion for operational excellence and people development? We're looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead manufacturing and logistics functions at a high-performing site in Exeter. In this pivotal role, you'll work alongside the Operations Director to shape and deliver a strategic business plan, drive continuous improvement, and ensure excellence across cost, quality, service, health and safety, compliance, and performance. You'll lead a talented site team and play a key role in engaging staff with the wider business vision.
The working hours are 8:30am - 5pm, Monday to Friday - however, you will need to be available to be on call as and when required.
Responsibilities
1. Lead and execute a business plan that aligns operations, engineering, transport, sales, and finance to meet performance goals.
2. Deliver targets for EBITDA, service levels, and operational efficiency.
3. Manage capital expenditure, maintenance, and inventory to reduce cost and stock losses.
4. Build strong cross-functional relationships to enhance collaboration and customer service.
5. Promote a "safety-first" culture while ensuring full legal, environmental, and feed compliance.
6. Inspire and develop your team with structured succession planning and training programmes.
7. Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and uphold the company's professional reputation.
Requirements
Essential:
1. Previous experience in a senior operational or manufacturing leadership role.
2. Strong understanding of manufacturing, transport & logistics processes.
3. Commercial acumen with proven ability to manage budgets, resources, and costs.
4. A proactive, results-driven mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
5. Strong leadership and people development skills.
6. Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational abilities.
7. IT literacy and a strong safety and compliance mindset.
Desirable:
1. Located within 30 miles of Exeter (but not essential).
