About us
Salford is a bold, creative city at the heart of Greater Manchester, nationally recognised for its role in film, television, digital media and cultural innovation. Home to MediaCity and a thriving creative ecosystem, Salford City Council is committed to supporting inclusive growth, nurturing talent and attracting investment that strengthens our cultural and creative economy.
We are a values‑led organisation, driven by pride in our city, passion for what we do, a people‑first approach and personal responsibility. Working collaboratively with partners, businesses and communities, we champion creativity as a powerful force for economic development, placemaking and opportunity for all.
About the Role
As Creative Industries Development Manager, you will lead Salford’s Film & TV Office while playing a wider role in shaping the growth of the city’s creative industries. You’ll be responsible for managing filming activity across Salford, supporting productions from enquiry through to delivery, and promoting the city as an attractive, film‑friendly destination. Alongside this, you’ll work with partners across Greater Manchester and beyond to support sector development, investment, talent pathways and innovation, helping to strengthen Salford’s position as a leading creative city.
About you
You’ll bring proven experience in creative or cultural industries development, with a strong understanding of the UK film, TV and wider creative economy. You’ll be confident working with industry partners and stakeholders, able to manage multiple projects and priorities, and comfortable acting as a visible and trusted point of contact for productions and partners. Strong communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills are essential, alongside the ability to analyse impact and use insight to inform strategic decisions.
We’re looking for someone who shares our values and is motivated by making a positive difference to the creative sector, to communities and to the city. You’ll be collaborative, proactive and adaptable, with the drive to champion Salford as a leading creative destination while supporting inclusive growth, talent development and innovation across the creative industries.
