Key accountabilities
Perform general maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, light electrical, decorating, and joinery work across all care home sites.
Conduct regular safety inspections and compliance testing (PAT testing, emergency lighting, water temperature, etc.) to meet regulatory standards.
Support with logistical tasks such as furniture assembly, delivery handling, and exterior maintenance to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Patching repairs and re-grouting of tiled surfaces
Decoration (painting, decorating, wallpaper hanging)
Light Basic electrical (such as changing light bulbs, ballasts, plugs or cable repairs) No live working.
Light joinery & carpentry (such as replacing/repairing ironmongery, filling and sanding, oiling hinges, repairs to furniture, etc).
Minor Basic plumbing (such as fixing running WCs, dripping taps, leaks repairs, unblock drains)
Re-sealing joints (such as shower trays, skirting board/floor junctions)
Assembly and Disassembly of furniture
Moving/Handling heavy items
Receiving and inventorying deliveries, unpacking and storage
Clearing gutters and drains (where accessible)
Changing filters on air conditioning systems
Changing water filters on filtered water taps
Cleaning and maintaining entry/exit points (such as sweeping leaves, general touching up, polishing of ironmongery and signs)
PAT Testing of portable appliances
Emergency lighting testing
Carry out fire warden training
Daily, Weekly & Monthly maintenance tasks such as water temperature testing, flushing, fire alarm testing, wheelchair & window & fire escape checks.
Inducting & supervision of subcontractors
Reviewing of subcontractor RAMS
Basic faut finding
Carry out bi-annual fire evacuations
Provide holiday & sickness cover where required
Support line managers with other tasks around the residence not specified within this list
Periodic visual inspection of condition of fire extinguishers
Periodic inspection of condition of evacuation chairs in stairwells
Groundswork (misc fencing, labouring etc)
Plantroom inspections
Ladder inspections
Jet washing of patios, footpaths etc.
General leaf, weed & moss clearance in winter months
Salt spreading/gritting Winter months (as required)
General PPM tasks such as valve checks & expansion vessel inspections
Eligibility
