Purpose of the Role
We are currently recruiting Apprentices to join our team!
Join the Colas Rail Level 3 Rail Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Scheme today to jump start your career and begin the journey to realizing your potential. The duration of the scheme is between 2 and 3 years, depending on your specialism, which may include:
* OLE
* Signalling
* Traction & Rolling Stock
* Track

As an apprentice with Colas Rail, you will be enrolled in our Apprenticeship Programme as an OLE Apprentice, working closely with experienced engineers and management to gain essential skills to improve UK rail systems.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you will attend block release training for your technical specialism and receive comprehensive technical training to become a competent engineering technician. Our goal is to help you achieve Engineering Technician status with a relevant professional institution.
What I will be focused on as an OLE Apprentice?
You will develop relevant skills for your role and deliver against the apprenticeship scheme's Route to Competence. You will gain immersive, hands-on experience working on live projects, supported by tailored training to deepen your understanding of your discipline. Your role includes contributing to your team, supporting colleagues on key projects, and developing your knowledge through on-site work and off-the-job training.
We prioritize safety, health, and security, and encourage you to share ideas on safety improvements. We also focus on making a positive impact on the environment through innovative and creative approaches.
About You - Person Specification
We look for candidates with:
* A minimum of Grade C / 4 in Maths and English
* Ability to drive or completion of driving test by August 2025
* Ability to collaborate and work independently
* Good communication skills
* Willingness to work nights and weekends
* Interest in the Rail Industry and Colas Rail
