Job overview

This post attracts individuals who are new to care. You will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within 6 months upon successful completion of all required competencies; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.

As part of the recruitment process for this post, candidates will be required to complete an online literacy and numeracy test and only if they pass this, will they be invited to a formal interview. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic healthcare support worker to join our team on 3A Specialist Cardiology Ward at Barts Heart Centre.

Ward 3A is a specialist cardiology ward, where we care for a variety of patients with cardiac problems, working collaboratively with multiple medical teams. We are one of the five busiest Heart Attack Centres in the UK, and home to the largest Atrial Fibrillation Ablation centre in Europe. We offer robotic surgery, ECMO, complex electrophysiology and are a leading provider of stem cell transplantation and immunotherapy for cancer treatment. Our vision is to be a leading and innovative nursing and AHP centre providing exceptional care and patient experience. We are a dedicated, supportive and ambitious team offering excellent training and development opportunities.

Main duties of the job

The healthcare support worker will work across
the team to gain experience in looking after a varied range of specialist cardiology patients, offering unique opportunities to develop skills and experience in cardiology care. The ward has specialist equipment such as cardiac monitors, providing healthcare support workers with palatable skills for development in cardiology nursing.
The post holder will be required to provide the highest standard of individualised and holistic patient care in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, supervise and teach junior members of staff as required and maintain their own personal development with support from the nursing team.
