Corporate Finance Vacancy: Capital Accountant Band 6

Term: Permanent

Directorate: Corporate Finance

Location: Fixed Assets, Caledonia House

Full Time / Part Time: Full Time

Salary: AFC Band 6 £43,169 - £52,603

Location - Permanent presence at Caledonia House is a requirement of this role, with initial training based at Gartnavel Hospital. Based in the west of the city, our office location is only a few minutes’ walk to regular bus and train services.

Do you fit the requirements?

We are looking for someone who is committed to working in a demanding but enjoyable role in the NHS. A small department within a large finance team we manage capital investment of all types within our sizeable asset base.

Capable of working with finance, procurement, project managers & clinical colleagues at all levels the ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to use your own initiative with excellent communication, organisational, IT and finance/ business skills.

Working closely with the Senior Capital Accountant, but reporting to the Assistant Head of Financial Services – Income, Treasury & Fixed Assets, you will be responsible for the provision of a professional financial management service to budget holders within our capital plan.

The Capital Accountant will assist the Senior Capital Accountant to lead, coordinate and develop a full accounting and reporting service on the Capital Plan and to manage,

maintain and develop an efficient and effective system of reporting spend to allow the best possible use of investment within our asset base.

You will be competent in the management of financial information, financial reporting, budgetary control processes and governance arrangements. Ideally degree/HND qualified in accountancy (or with equivalent work experience) you will have excellent IT skills, good communication skills and the ability to use initiative and deliver to strict timelines while dealing diplomatically with staff at all levels.
