Overview

The University of Cambridge (UoC), Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHSFT (CPFT) and Cambridge University Hospitals NHSFT (CUH) are partnering to realise a visionary new hospital for children and young people across the East of England. Supported by three charity partners — Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT), Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations (CUDAR) and Head to Toe Charity — the project aims to match £100 million government funding with £100 million in philanthropy.

The Cambridge Children’s Campaign presents a compelling proposition for donors who want to help build a world-first hospital that pioneers a new approach to healthcare for children and young people, with the potential to impact child health globally.

The Fundraising Campaign Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Campaign to raise £100 million in philanthropy. The post will support three organisations to deliver a unified campaign to achieve the philanthropic goal. You will have fundraising or campaign management experience and excellent interpersonal skills to manage and develop relationships with senior personnel within the NHS, the University and philanthropic partners.


Responsibilities

* Consolidate and lead on the coordinated gift pipeline for the Cambridge Children’s Hospital campaign
* Consolidate the pipeline of prospects and track progression through the solicitation cycle, working with the campaign’s lead fundraisers to report to the Campaign Executive and other leadership
* Track campaign activity and fundraising reporting to agreed metrics
* Support the development and maintenance of 'gift opportunities' at key gift levels and related cost documentation, mapping asks to fundraising priorities
* Develop, revise and maintain campaign policies for the Campaign Executive and lead on their implementation (e.g. naming, counting, recognition)
* Develop and roll out campaign-specific programmes (e.g. Founders Circle, volunteer strategy and tools)
* Execute campaign board meetings, engagement, and regular communications
* Update and report against the campaign plan including day-to-day management of the campaign budget, spend and financial reporting (incl ROI analyses)
* Ensure standards for campaign data management
* Provide overall strategic programme management for the Campaign

Job description and responsibilities

Cambridge Children’s takes a new approach to healthcare for 0-25 year-olds, integrating cutting-edge technology with university research to treat the whole child. It will combine physical and mental healthcare under one roof and embed a holistic approach focused on prevention, early detection and advancing care in partnership with local providers, Community Services, GPs and Social Care.

There will be a pioneering research institute at the heart of Cambridge Children’s, aiming to understand the early origins of disease and shift medical practice toward prevention. The project leverages the Cambridge Biomedical Campus (CBC) and the Cambridge life sciences cluster, including collaborations with major organisations.

This is a 24-month fixed-term post hosted by CUH on behalf of the Cambridge Children’s project partners. Interviews are scheduled for the week of 13 October with a stakeholder panel to follow in late October. The attached Applicant Information Pack includes key duties and responsibilities. Internal applicants on permanent contracts may apply only as a secondment with manager approval. For student visa holders, permanent roles may require visa sponsorship and related conditions. Applications from NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough staff identified as at risk of redundancy will be prioritized but interviews are not guaranteed. The advert closes at midnight on 5 October 2025. Person Specification

Qualifications

* Essential: General education to degree level, equivalent professional qualification or experience
* Essential: Education to Masters level or equivalent experience
* Desirable: Project and/or financial management qualification
* Desirable: Fundraising skills course / certification

Experience

* Essential: Significant fundraising experience in education, health or charity sectors; experience in mid-large scale fundraising teams; experience raising 5-figure+ gifts; experience with high-level volunteers; collaboration with academic, clinical or project leads
* Essential: Knowledge of fundraising methodologies, CRM usage, gift pyramids, prospect management cycles and reporting
* Essential: Campaign fundraising experience and understanding of campaign planning and execution
* Essential: Development of fundraising policies (gift recognition, counting, naming); budget management and financial analysis; project management
* Desirable: Experience on a large-scale fundraising campaign; NHS or similar complex organisation experience; familiarity with productivity tools

Knowledge

* Essential: Knowledge of Cambridge, CUH channels, Collegiate University and CPFT; understanding of fundraising regulation, GDPR and data protection
* Desirable: Knowledge of productivity tools (MSP, MS Teams, Slack/Trello)

Skills

* Essential: Ability to translate research and clinical needs into donor opportunities; proficient CRM reporting; information, document and project management
* Essential: Meeting organisation and chairing; diplomatic negotiation and engagement with senior colleagues
* Essential: Proficiency with Microsoft Office; calm under pressure; ability to prioritise and show initiative
* Essential: Team-oriented and flexible; resilience, professionalism; strong analytical skills
