Overview
An exciting clinical leadership role, working at the forefront of Hillingdon Adult Speech and Language Therapy service providing clinical leadership to an exciting team and delivering highly specialist speech and language therapy intervention in domiciliary, outpatient clinics and at our Intermediate care units.
You will be responsible for supporting the teams to clinically advance and for the delivery of evidence‑based interventions through direct care, supervision, training, and education with practitioners in the team.
The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. They will utilise research skills for audit to support policy and service development and undertake research within the area served by the service and of relevance to young people, their families and carers.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the service manager to support the development and delivery of the adult community services in Hillingdon and be responsible for operationally managing staff, caseload, and treatment pathway management, monitoring performance indicators and ensuring clinical supervision for all staff in the teams is in line with local and national protocols.
* Lead on service transformation in line with the NHS Long Term Plan, co‑produce, and support the evolution of pathway interventions with the community services, coordinating the approach to Quality and Clinical Governance and assurance frameworks to maintain and monitor high standards of care, ensuring services meet quality and performance standards.
* Provide leadership support to the team of clinical and non‑clinical workforce.
* Manage individual and contribute towards organisational performance.
* Ensure trust values are embedded in service delivery.
* Manage the operating budget effectively, remaining within the allocated resources for the financial year, including budget setting and projections.
* Develop and deliver training programmes to multidisciplinary groups including external stakeholders and GPs as required.
* Support and encourage reflective practice within the service, helping to identify the learning needs in respect of speech & language therapy and other AHPs where indicated.
* Participate in an annual appraisal and maintain a personal development plan.
* Ensure that policies, procedures, clinical governance arrangements and lines of accountability are in place, appropriate and well communicated to all staff to ensure safe clinical service delivery.
* Be aware of and act in accordance with the Trust’s clinical and organisational policies and guidelines.
* Be aware of and act in accordance with Professional Codes of conduct, Standards and Guidelines.
* Work independently and without supervision, interpreting national and Trust policies and guidance and advising the Clinical Service Manager and Head of Adult Services of appropriate action.
Qualifications
Applicants must be qualified and registered Professional with extensive post‑graduate experience working with adults, providing patient‑centred care and leading a team, and must be able to utilise research skills for audit and service development.
