An opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Process Engineer to join our Kidlington based Manufacturing department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment. About The Role To support the business as subject matter expert, using engineering and manufacturing knowledge and experience to support the delivery of right first-time product within manufacturing. Working closely with Engineering and Operational functions to specify requirements, drive best practice, lead problem resolution, identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives within the subject areas. Operational Duties What you will do Perform engineering tasks in the development of weld systems specifications for module and pack assembly on prototype, pre-production and high-volume assembly lines. Lead the DFM activities around the solutions for welding. Develop parameters and process definitions to meet the Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing requirements, managing the specification and control of these from prototype into production Support the interface with OEMs/customers, battery systems design and engineering for outsourced processes. Guide projects through the design and development process with suppliers to produce practical design solutions in relation to welding processes. Lead the FAT and SAT requirements document generations for the custom solutions. Create and maintain project schedules, work with other team members to ensure satisfactory completion of all steps in project approval and execution process. Identify and communicate risks to appropriate management. Support the Advanced Automation Teams with the plant layouts, and equipment footprints and utilities as needed. Work effectively in a team environment across a range of projects as required. Ensure all relevant Standards, Compliance and Regulatory requirements are adhered to. Strategy and Improvement Establish best practice for department design standards and support the implementation of these through the business. Support benchmarking and evaluation of process developments with customers and suppliers. Devise and own specific elements of the quality improvement road map supporting the Quality Management System and our compliance to ISO9001:2015, and any project specific quality requirements. Identify opportunities for development projects to drive improvement within the technologies Maintain knowledge of external market for welding technologies to ensure we remain at the forefront of technology and can deploy within our manufacturing capabilities when required About You Strong experience gained in a low / mid volume manufacturing / production assembly environment Ability to independently produce innovative and successful design solutions to technical problems. Extensive knowledge of low / mid volume automation tooling and equipment. Experience in the use of business improvement tools and techniques (5s, Lean, Kaizen etc.) and the use of PFMEA’s and DFMEA’s A good knowledge of TS16949, AS9100, ISO14001 and ISO9001 to comply with company processes is essential A team player with the ability to work on own initiative, and able to influence others by demonstrating a positive “can do” attitude Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills along with the ability to work at pace in a multi-project environment.
