About the Role
We're looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our Corporate Finance team, playing a key role in providing high quality financial advice and insight across the organisation. You’ll help services manage budgets effectively, plan sustainably, and ensure value for money for our communities. As a trusted adviser to budget managers and senior decision makers, you’ll combine strong technical finance skills with the confidence to challenge, influence, and support services in delivering their priorities. You’ll work closely with two other Finance Business Partners, reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner (Revenue), and collaborate widely across the council to uphold strong financial governance and local authority accounting standards. In this varied and rewarding role, you will:
* Act as the lead finance contact for designated service areas, providing timely, clear, and pragmatic advice on budget setting, monitoring and forecasting to support decision making
* Contribute to the Medium-Term Financial Strategy and longer‑term financial planning
* Support the production of the annual Statement of Accounts, including working papers and disclosure notes, while building and maintaining up‑to‑date knowledge of local authority accounting
* Prepare and review management information, committee reports, grant claims, statistical returns, and balance sheet reconciliations
This is a great opportunity for a part‑qualified accountant or an experienced finance professional who is keen to deepen their business partnering skills. You’ll enjoy interpreting financial information, working with a wide range of stakeholders, and helping non‑finance colleagues understand, interpret and use financial data. You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative finance team that values learning, teamwork, and professional development. If you’re looking to build your career in a complex, challenging, and genuinely impactful public sector environment, we’d love to hear from you.
