We're seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join our Older People and Physical Disability Commissioning Team.
Main Responsibilities
You will lead on commissioning activity across a range of priority areas, including:
* Supporting adults of all ages to live independently in the community for longer
* Equipment and assistive technology for people in their own homes
* Developing and strengthening the interface between NHS and social care markets
* Staffordshire Housing with Care Strategy 2024 - 2029
Your wider responsibilities will include:
* Developing and delivering commissioning strategies and plans aligned to the Council's strategic objectives
* Leading future commissioning arrangements for equipment and technology
* Co‑producing innovative, outcome‑focused services with people who use services and their carers/families
* Managing programmes and projects to agreed timescales and budgets
* Building and maintaining positive relationships with providers and key internal and external partners
* Driving greater collaboration with NHS commissioners and other local authorities
* Translating best practice and learning into practical commissioning solutions
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a confident and experienced commissioner with strong strategic and operational insight. You will bring:
* Proven experience of commissioning within adult social care and/or health
* Strong analytical skills, able to use data and evidence to set priorities and inform decision‑making
* A thorough understanding of adult social care legislation and practice, including strength‑based approaches and personalisation
* A detailed understanding of the NHS and the wider health and care system
* A track record of engaging with and shaping markets to improve outcomes
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
* A clear commitment to engagement and co‑production, with experience of involving people who use services and their families/carers
This role will suit someone who can think strategically while remaining grounded in the realities of service delivery.
