Overview:
Long Term Futures are seeking a passionate and resilient Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant to join a specialist school in Burton upon Trent (DE13) supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role involves working closely with pupils who have experienced significant barriers to learning, including behavioural challenges and difficulties accessing mainstream education. You will play a key role in delivering both academic and therapeutic support within a highly structured, nurturing environment that focuses on consistency, routine, and positive relationships.
About the Role:
Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with behavioural needs. This is in an all through school from ages 4-16.
Help create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment.
Support pupils' academic progress as well as their emotional wellbeing and personal development.
As a Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant you will work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to deliver personalised learning plans.
Contribute to behaviour management and therapeutic support strategies. About You:
This position is ideal for someone who is patient, adaptable, and committed to making a lasting difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
Experience in supporting pupils with additional needs in a primary and secondary schools.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build trust with students.
A calm, patient, and adaptable approach to challenges.

Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school community.
