Job Description:
MCS Group is working with a large public sector employer in County Antrim to find an Environmental Health Officer. This role offers a 4-day working week, a competitive salary, and the potential for a longer contract. Location: Ballymena. Contract Length: 9 months with possible extension. Salary: £38.5k (Pro-rata).
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct inspections, investigations, assessments across environmental health functions, including public health, food safety, and housing.
2. Enforce legislation, serve notices, and prepare legal documentation.
3. Act as an expert witness, providing advice and reports for legal and public health matters.
4. Collaborate with external agencies and stakeholders to achieve environmental health goals.
5. Participate in planning reviews, public consultations, health campaigns, and reactive monitoring, including out-of-hours responses.
6. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, support training, and perform administrative duties.
The Person:
* Degree in Environmental Health or equivalent experience.
* Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
* At least 1 year of experience in a public sector role.
* Knowledge of current environmental health legislation.
* Stakeholder engagement skills.
* Full valid driver’s license and access to transport.
