Robson & Prescott Vets in Northumberland are excited to welcome a confident and enthusiastic Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our experienced and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a someone who enjoys a varied caseload and is keen to continue developing their clinical skills. This role will provide the opportunity for someone to grow a specific area of interest – whether that's surgical, medical, or diagnostic imaging – within a highly supportive, multi-disciplinary environment.
As both a branch and hospital-based practice, we can support vets who prefer a traditional first-opinion setting or those who would like exposure to a busy, well-equipped hospital environment. We pride ourselves on delivering comprehensive in-house investigations and actively encourage ongoing professional development, including support toward advanced qualifications.

The full-time hours for this role would include 40 hours per week over the choice of 4 or 5 days per week however as we put a strong focus on flexibility and we are happy to chat to candidates looking for part time or flexible working options. There would be some OOH commitments as part of our in-house service.

Robson & Prescott has been part of the Morpeth community since 1938, making it the longest-established veterinary practice in the area. We are a large, multi-disciplinary practice with over 100 team members, including veterinary surgeons, RVNs, trainee nurses, nursing auxiliaries, and a dedicated hydrotherapist. As a nurse training practice, we pride ourselves on creating a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
Our main hospital at Whorral Bank, Morpeth, is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility featuring:
* 4 operating theatres and a dedicated dental suite
* On-site diagnostic lab, digital x-ray, ultrasound (including Doppler), and endoscopy
* Separate wards for dogs, cats, birds, small mammals, and exotics
* Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy suite
* 6 consulting rooms
We also operate across 8 branch practices in Alnwick, Ashington, Bedlington, Blyth, Newbiggin, Seaton Delaval, West Moor, and Morpeth town centre (dedicated to cat only and behavioural clinics). Our hospital site also includes large animal and equine facilities, loose boxes, examination and surgical area.
You will work alongside a highly experienced clinical team, including certificate holders in surgery, medicine, cardiology, dermatology, ECC, behaviour, feline medicine, and exotics—offering fantastic mentorship and development opportunities. We actively support certificate study and CPD, and we're pleased to accommodate both those working toward certificates and current certificate holders within the team.

Based in the historic market town of Morpeth, Northumberland, you'll be perfectly positioned between stunning coastline, countryside, and rolling hills, offering an exceptional lifestyle outside of work. There are excellent transport links, with direct rail services on the East Coast Main Line, providing easy access to Newcastle in around 20 minutes and Edinburgh in approximately 1 hour. The town is also conveniently located close to the A1, making travel across Northumberland and the wider North East straightforward.
