The role
As a HR Advisor, you’ll deliver professional, pragmatic and people‑focused HR support across a wide range of employee relations and people management activities. This is a varied and rewarding opportunity where your expertise will directly support managers and employees within a complex, regulated and critically important defence environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with HR Business Partners, People Managers and the wider HR team to provide consistent, high‑quality advice that supports business priorities and good employment practice. You’ll play an important role in ensuring policies are applied fairly, risks are managed effectively, and people feel supported throughout their employee journey.
1. Managing and delivering an effective HR case management service, ensuring cases are progressed to timely and appropriate conclusions.
2. Advising and supporting People Managers on employee relations matters including conduct, capability, attendance and grievance cases.
3. Interpreting and applying HR policies, procedures and employment legislation, ensuring consistency and best practice.
4. Supporting hearings, appeals and employment tribunal preparation, including documentation collation and guidance.
5. Contributing to HR projects, policy development and continuous improvement initiatives across the HR function.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 3 days in the office/onsite.
Essential experience of the HR Advisor
6. CIPD qualification or actively working towards this.
7. Strong working knowledge of employment law, HR policy and employee relations practices.
8. Experience managing a range of HR casework with confidence and professionalism.
9. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary HR team and wider business environment.
10. Experience of working with trade unions or within an industrial relations setting.
Qualifications for the HR Advisor
11. CIPD qualified or working towards CIPD professional status.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
