Job Summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and skilled CAMHS Primary Practitioner to join our Primary Intervention Team within Wakefield CAMHS, working in the heart of our Single Point of Access (SPA). You will triage calls, make clinical decisions, provide early intervention and support families to get the right help at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver brief, targeted support through the 2+1 approach (one assessment and two intervention sessions).
* Manage triage calls, assess risk, and signpost or refer to internal or external services.
* Work within the Single Point of Referral from 09:00 to 18:00 (Monday to Friday).
* Provide direct and indirect consultation, advice and support to Primary Health Care Team, Social Services, Education and Voluntary Organisations.
* Develop and maintain good working relationships with universal service workers and other agencies.
* Promote safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
* Collate and analyse service data to support performance management.
* Maintain appropriate professional registration and GDPR‑compliant data handling.
Person Specification
Essential Knowledge & Skills
* Assessment and evaluation of mental health and behavioural programmes with risk assessment experience.
* Excellent verbal, communication and negotiation skills.
* Independent caseload management and IT competency.
* Teamworking across multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong safeguarding and safeguarding referral knowledge.
* Effective record‑keeping, report writing, and care planning.
Desirable Knowledge & Skills
* Experience in universal services or networking between universal services and CAMHS.
* Family and systemic team experience.
* Experience delivering training to professionals.
* Equality and diversity working knowledge.
Qualifications
* First level registered qualification (RMN, CPN, SW, Occupational Therapy or other mental health profession).
* Post‑qualification training in mental health therapy (e.g., CBT, Family therapy) desirable.
* Evidence of mentoring or learner support experience desirable.
