 
        
        Associate Director of Environment, Health & Safety
We aspire to be a premier research‑intensive biopharmaceutical company. As Associate Director of Environment, Health & Safety, you will lead a team of two direct reports and ensure all operations comply with health, safety and environmental legislation and our global corporate standards.
Responsibilities
 * Direct EHS activities site‑wide, ensuring compliance and personal accountability.
 * Liaise with the Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency and other enforcing authorities.
 * Consult and advise personnel on technical and administrative support for projects and long‑range plans.
 * Partner with internal and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement efforts.
 * Assure completion of all regulatory submissions and notifications required for compliance.
 * Support implementation of the company’s corporate EHS strategy at the site level.
 * Establish responsible parties for EHS standards and coordinate self‑assessments.
 * Report statutory information to authorities and internal Global Safety & Environment.
 * Recommend safety, health and environmental objectives for inclusion in the company plan.
 * Develop policies, procedures and a learning & development training strategy.
 * Provide systems for regular inspections, accident investigations and health surveillance.
Qualifications
 * Degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
 * NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety and/or IOSH membership.
 * Experience in a highly regulated industry, preferably pharmaceutical or biomedical research.
 * Demonstrated experience managing direct reports and building a strong team.
 * Knowledge of UK health and safety and environmental law.
 * Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
 * Ability to negotiate with regulatory agencies and senior operations leaders.
