Job Description:
Job overview
Are you a Band nurse looking to work somewhere a bit different?
We are seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, and motivated band nurses to join our friendly multidisciplinary team at the Oxford Heart Centre. The Cardiac Angiography Suite (CAS) includes Cath Labs, a bed Day Unit, and a bed Assessment Area, where patients undergo a variety of cardiac procedures such as Coronary Angiography/Intervention, Pacemaker/ICD implantation, Electrophysiology Studies/Ablations, Structural/Congenital procedures, and Trans-Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). We also perform nurse-led cardioversions, transoesophageal echo, and drug challenges.
The team in CAS aims to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a safe, welcoming environment. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for such care and a commitment to developing the necessary skills and knowledge.
The role involves working across the Day Unit/Assessment Area and Cath Labs, caring for both stable elective and acutely ill emergency patients.
Main duties of the job
In the Day Unit/Assessment area, you will be trained to manage a small caseload of patients pre and post-procedure. In the Cath Lab, you will be trained to work in scrub and circulating capacities for various procedures.
Working for our organisation
The unit operates Monday to Friday with an on-call service for emergencies outside of hours and on weekends. As a full-time band nurse, you would work four-hour shifts per week. Once settled, you may join the on-call team providing Primary Angioplasty to Thames Valley patients, depending on experience and competency completion.
On-call duties offer flexible opportunities to supplement earnings, typically comprising one weeknight and one weekend day per month.
Previous cardiac nursing experience is desirable, but comprehensive training and induction are provided. You will have the chance to attend the Cardiac Foundation Course and pursue further education and qualifications through Oxford Brookes University.
