Summary of Role:
Join the Nidec Drives R&D Department as a Senior Power Electronics Engineer. You will report to the Product Development Manager and be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing power electronics and auxiliary circuits, including component evaluation, circuit analysis, simulations, thermal and mechanical design, and PCB review.
Key Job Responsibilities:
* Have a solid understanding of power electronics.
* Contribute to new designs, product specifications, and develop analogue, digital, and electronic circuits/systems for power electronics.
* Ensure designs meet functional requirements and comply with EMC and safety regulations.
* Interface with external suppliers and participate in design reviews, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
* Manage type test meetings and develop test equipment.
* Prepare technical documentation and reports, and present and justify design concepts.
* Participate in technical design reviews and critique peers’ designs.
* Guide and support other Development Engineers.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Masters Degree (MEng) in Power Electronics.
* Proven engineering experience.
* Understanding of power electronic devices, topologies, and control systems.
* Experience with simulation tools (e.g., PLECS, Saber, Simetrix, Pspice, MATLAB Simulink).
* Interest in emerging technologies and innovation.
* Knowledge of planning tools and theories.
* Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
