Do you have a personal lived experience of supporting a family member or friend accessing government community mental health services? Would you like to provide that perspective in planning, development and evaluation of mental health programs for North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS)?

This is for a Casual appointment for up to six (6) months with the possibility of extension(s).

What is our Carer Consultant role?

The Carer Consultant contributes a carer’s perspective to the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of mental health programs for the NMHS Mental Health Service. In this role, you will use your own lived experience as a carer to:

1. represent the carer perspective in committees and meetings
2. work with stakeholders and service providers to improve clinical service delivery
3. facilitate carer feedback and participation in service improvement initiatives
4. co-facilitate the lived experience advisory group
5. identify and engage relevant carer networks

You must have a lived experience as a primary carer of a consumer of mental health services. You will bring a genuine interest in improving the carer and consumer experience and have great communication skills to allow you to work effectively with a diverse range of mental health stakeholders.

NMHS contains Western Australia’s largest Mental Health Service caring for youths, adults and older adults. Services are delivered through inpatient units, community mental health clinics and day therapy and outreach programs to a catchment area of almost 1 million people. State-wide and Tertiary Mental Health Services include research, forensics, neurosciences, art therapy, eating disorders and other specialised services.
