Overview
Applications are invited for a permanent, full-time post based at Western General Hospital. The post is NHS Lothian and an honorary contract will be sought with the University of Edinburgh. The successful candidate will join an established team with a highly visible consultant presence, providing senior support to Radiology Trainees & Radiographers and driving improvements in patient care through rapid consultant-led assessment.
Responsibilities
* Deliver teaching of radiology and radiography to trainees and advanced practitioners and sonographers.
* Provide cross-sectional imaging interpretation related to breast disease, including CT staging and follow-up, MRI Breast, and contrast-enhanced mammography where required.
* Support the symptomatic breast service and one-stop new patient clinics, general mammographic reporting, and MDT meetings.
* Contribute to the South East Scotland Breast Screening service and facilitate regular NHS Lothian support to breast services in neighbouring boards (potential on-site work at sites outside NHS Lothian by agreement).
* Report cross-sectional imaging beyond breast disease as part of the role when needed.
* Support the delivery of breast service goals and participate in teaching and service development activities.
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and a license to practice; eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
* Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT (or within 6 months of confirmed entry from date of interview) for those trained in the UK.
* Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) route doctors are eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post only after award.
* Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
