What you'll do as a SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
Assist in delivering personalised, needs-led learning activities
Help promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, and positive behaviour
Use de-escalation strategies and supportive interventions
Work closely with teachers, therapists, and external professionals
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and families
What we're looking for in a SEMH Teaching Assistant:
Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour
Strong communication, empathy, and patience
Confident behaviour management and calm under pressure
A trauma-informed, nurturing, and proactive approach
An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
