Overview
The Clinical Safety Officer will provide expert clinical advice and specialist support to the Welsh Ambulance Service University NHS Trust (WAST) on clinical risk management and patient safety assessment related to the boards Digital, Data and Technology services. This includes procurement, design and development, implementation of third-party systems, and the operational lifecycle.
The role supports the development, integration and embedding of the Trust’s clinical assurance process, focusing on the patient safety assessment of digital, data and technology services at the design, development and final testing phases before handover to operational service.
Responsibilities
* Proactively deploy and motivate the Trust and external clinical, technical and project staff to contribute to the risk management and risk assessment process to ensure products are signed off as fit for use in real operational and clinical environments.
* Develop, integrate and embed the Trust’s clinical assurance process for patient safety assessments during the operational life cycle of digital, data and technology services.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across procurement, design & development, and operations to ensure robust clinical risk management and patient safety practices.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience as a clinical safety officer or equivalent in risk management and patient safety assessment for digital health or health technology projects.
* Ability to work with cross-functional teams and external partners to drive risk assessment processes.
* Desirable: ability to speak Welsh.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Careers within the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust are diverse and varied. In line with the Trust’s Starting Salary Procedure, all applicants will start at the bottom of the band for the position applied for, but can apply for a higher salary if they have previous experience relevant to the position.
