Are you a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer with a background in construction or a similar field, looking to start your career in a hands-on role where you'll receive full training and clear progression?
Join a specialist engineering company that is investing heavily in innovation and R&D. You'll be involved in developing bespoke roofing systems, working alongside Tier 1 contractors and architects on technically challenging projects.
In this junior role, you'll gain exposure to R&D projects from concept through to manufacture, working across CAD, prototyping, and testing. Based in the Royston office, you'll collaborate closely with the R&D Manager and the wider business to deliver evidence-led product development and grow your technical skills.
This role is ideal for a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer with a construction background or similar, who wants early ownership of projects and the opportunity to learn in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
THE ROLE:
* Support early-stage concept development and feasibility assessments
* Assist in designing bespoke construction solutions using 2D and 3D CAD (AutoCAD / Inventor)
* Help develop performance criteria, technical specifications, and summary reports
* Support prototype production, fabrication, and assembly
* Assist with internal testing for functionality, structural performance, and weathering integrity
* Coordinate with external testing providers to ensure compliance with industry standards
