Job Overview
This is a site-based position. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Engineer to join our engineering team. Skilled Engineers are employed on work appropriate to their core and specialist skills, with the expectation to acquire elements of other skills to work flexibly across trades. Suitable training and up-skilling may be provided to achieve competency and the ability to perform the following responsibilities.
Working hours – This is a shift position consisting of 12 hour days and nights.
Key duties
* Provide a reactive and planned pro-active maintenance (PPM) service as per project requirements to all operational assets.
* Provide a multi-skilled maintenance service, covering electrical, mechanical and building fabric disciplines.
* Carry out modifications and installations as required.
* Liaise with contractors or external suppliers and clearly communicate technical issues.
* Ensure work is carried out to a high standard of quality and in line with current legal standards, company policies and procedures.
* Maximise availability of mechanical and electrical equipment through continuous improvement, optimum performance, improved efficiencies and cost reductions.
* Maintain equipment with sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills, raising issues to the shift supervisor in a timely manner.
* Maintain, repair and calibrate electrical, mechanical and instrumentation plant to optimise reliability and maintainability.
* Provide a service that ensures all key performance indicators (KPI) / service level agreements (SLA) are met.
* Take ownership of tools and equipment provided and report any defects immediately.
* Provide technical support/input to projects and initiatives.
* Complete work in a safe and diligent manner, being responsible for your own work and for those under supervision.
* Provide regular feedback on issues arising before, during and after work activities; complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
* Complete required training and development to maintain competence in the role and complete other duties as directed by the Regional Operations Supervisor or Management Team.
* Flexibility in work hours to provide cover for holidays and sickness absence.
* Comply fully with Health, Safety & Environmental policies and complete RAMS documentation as required; adhere to all associated permits.
* Provide excellent customer service to building occupants, keeping them informed of work order progress.
* Proactively walk the floors to report maintenance or H&S issues to the helpdesk and appropriate manager.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
* Follow group and company policies and procedures at all times.
* Report deficiencies in systems of work or equipment that may affect service delivery, health and safety, or the environment.
* Use all work equipment and PPE properly and in accordance with training.
* Report issues or training needs to your Line Manager and/or via the divisional incident reporting system.
* Take personal responsibility for Health & Safety matters.
What We Are Looking For
* Experience of working within commercial properties and installations.
* Good knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and its application within the role.
* Ability to effectively prioritise own workload; flexible and adaptable to change and working hours (subject to the EU Working Time Directive).
* Pro-active and positive approach to work; self-motivated.
* Good knowledge of building statutory compliance and ability to record work accurately on worksheets and tablet-based systems.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team; presented in a clean and professional manner with uniform and PPE.
* Responsible for self and others to maintain a safe working environment per Health and Safety regulations.
* Provide excellent customer service to building occupants and ensure work progress is communicated in a timely manner.
* Able to do the job right and to do it right first time within a pre-determined timescale.
* AC/HVAC-NVQ Level 3 in Air Conditioning/Maintenance (desirable).
* F Gas Qualification (desirable).
* Plumbing-NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing (essential but experience in previous roles acceptable).
* Mechanical - Previous experience in Mechanical Engineering (essential).
