This is an exciting opportunity within the Centre of Psychedelic Research, in the Division of Psychiatry, for a registered medical doctor who wants to pursue a research career. The post is to provide clinical support for the ‘Using fenfluramine to test the theory of serotonin deficiency in depression’ (FENDEP) study. This study compares serotonin levels within people who are suffering from depression and those who do not (healthy controls) using the drug DL-Fenfluramine and applying PET imaging. This pioneering research will contribute to the mechanistic understanding of depression and future treatment developments.
You will predominantly be working on the FENDEP study, though there may be opportunities to support on other studies at the centre. Your main duties will be patient visits including screening, taking consent, data collection and follow-up visits. You will be trained in all procedures to be able to administer PET tracers and you will be present during the participant scan appointments. You will work closely with the trial team and line manage the research assistant who will support you in the trial visits.
