Overview
Do you have a passion for care? Do you want to help people with mild learning disabilities live independently and happily? We are looking for Support Workers to join our supported living residential service Barons Place in Burntwood. You will be part of a team supporting 14 young people in their own home with learning disabilities. Each person has different likes and hobbies, such as shopping, cooking, swimming, going on trips, and activities in the hub such as film nights and pamper sessions, or meals out.
You will be responsible for providing personal care, medication, daily living skills, and activities to the people you support. You will also be part of a great team that will help you achieve your potential.
Responsibilities
* Provide personal care and medication administration as required.
* Support daily living skills and help individuals engage in activities and routines.
* Supervise and assist with cooking, cleaning, shopping, and other household tasks.
* Support individuals to stay in contact with family and friends and access the community.
* Facilitate socialisation, outings, and activities in line with each person preferences and needs.
* Assist with mobility and manual handling where applicable and ensure safety at all times.
* Record relevant information and maintain the individual’s dignity, privacy, and independence.
Shift patterns
7am – 2:30pm or 2:30pm – 10pm; alternate weekends. Part time and full time hours available.

About the role
As a Support Worker you will be supporting individuals with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) and mild learning disabilities. The role may include manual handling, medication administration, personal care, food preparation, household tasks, supporting individuals to stay in contact with family and friends, accessing the community and attending appointments. We provide support for daily living skills and help support with socialisation. We recognise each person as an individual and provide a unique service which is person-centred and tailored to their needs. The role is to promote the individual independence, choice, dignity and respect by delivering the best standards of support. We offer people with PMLD a safe and secure home where they can live independently with the support they need.
Qualifications Ideally the successful person would have a qualification in health and social care (but this is not essential) or will have worked in supported living settings and/or with individuals with PMLD.
