Interim Legal Counsel – Employment Litigation (12 months)

Are you an experienced Employment Litigation specialist looking for an influential interim role within a high‑performing in‑house team? Our client, a major UK organisation with a significant national footprint, is seeking an Interim Legal Counsel to support and further develop their in‑house Employment Litigation capability.

The Opportunity
As Interim Legal Counsel, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering the organisation’s Employment Tribunal strategy. You will:
* Lead and manage a busy caseload of Employment Tribunal matters end‑to‑end.
* Draft pleadings, witness statements and manage disclosure.
* Prepare for preliminary hearings, final hearings and Judicial Mediations.
* Conduct settlement negotiations where appropriate.
* Liaise closely with internal Employee Relations teams, business stakeholders, and external Counsel.
* Contribute to the development of in‑house litigation systems, processes and precedents.
* Track and advise on relevant AI tools to support process efficiency.
* Deliver training and guidance to Employee Relations teams and leaders.
* Provide insight on trends arising from claims and recommend remedial action.
* Support occasional high‑value High Court matters in collaboration with external advisers.
About You
We’re looking for a confident, pragmatic and hands‑on Employment Litigator who can operate with autonomy and pace.
You will ideally bring:
* Qualified solicitor (UK or equivalent) with 3+ years’ PQE in Employment Law.
* Deep understanding of UK Employment Tribunal Procedure Rules.
* Strong, demonstrable experience running Employment Tribunal claims in‑house or in private practice.
* Excellent written, verbal and stakeholder‑management skills.
* Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to non‑legal colleagues.
* A collaborative, solutions‑focused approach and the confidence to work directly with senior leaders and nervous witnesses.
* Willingness to deliver training and share best practice internally.
