Brown & Brown is seeking a Technical Commercial underwriter. Technical underwriting role with a primary focus on a group transformation project migrating product specifications from the current underwriting platforms and supporting the wider technical team with specific responsibility for:
* Technical liaison with product developers for building of new products and maintenance of existing products providing all technical aspects including rates and underwriting rules and subsequent technical sign-off before released into operational UAT.
* Referral point for underwriting referrals from the Underwriting Teams
* Working with the Product Governance Team to improve wordings and underwriting guides.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
* Carry out all business activity strictly within the rules and requirements of the Financial Conduct Authority. Ensure the fair treatment of policyholders and prospective policyholders. Adhere to all Company, and where appropriate Group, Compliance policies, procedures, and practices. Adopt and promote a positive, proactive attitude to compliance matters.
* Adhere to the Company’s Records Management policy.
* Achieve individual and department targets as specified in your Objectives.
* Keep relevant registers, logs and records up to date as required by relevant procedures e.g. new business logs, renewal registers, group business registers.
* Carry out regular training as requested and as appropriate to the position held and areas of activity and to maintain competencies in accordance with FCA requirements.
* Exceed or meet service standards as specified and altered from time to time.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
* Knowledge and understanding of the insurance market and the basic principles of insurance and being able to train and advise others internally.
* The ability to establish effective working relationships both internally, with brokers and with other business partners, having effective communication skill and the ability to communicate at all levels.
* Ability to make sound judgement based upon available information and reason and justify decisions to others.
* Ability to effectively plan and organize workload to meet business objectives being able to multi-task to meet varied timescales and delegate where required.
* Know and understand the value of utilizing business systems and processes for personal development, business requirements, industry regulation and controls.
* Ability to present and receive both verbal and written information in an effective manner.
