Position: Fire Safety Team Manager

Location: Bedford Office (with regular travel to London and other regions in the UK)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: up to £65,000 (depending on experience) + Training & Benefits

About Us:

We are a growing bespoke consultancy offering comprehensive health, safety, fire, and project management services to residential clients, with a focus on supporting High-Rise Residential Buildings. We specialize in ensuring the safety and compliance of purpose-built blocks of flats, providing a high standard of support and expertise to our clients.

Role Overview:

We're seeking an experienced and qualified fire safety consultant to lead our fire safety survey team. The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of relevant experience and the knowledge in high-rise residential buildings, leadership, and passion to drive fire safety strategies. This is a hands-on management role, combining strategic oversight of the fire safety auditing team with direct assessment work in the field.

You will lead a team of consultants, driving high standards in fire safety across a range of residential buildings mainly in the London area, as well as other regions in the UK. You will be managing Health, Safety, and Fire audits and then overseeing and validating professional reports and supporting project management team from the office in Bedford.

You will be responsible for maintaining compliance, mentoring & training team members, ensuring quality assurance, and supporting operational delivery across the Health, Safety & Fire Consultants team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a leadership position but still enjoys being on the ground.

Key Responsibilities:

· Managing onsite Health, Safety, and Fire audit inspections at residential blocks including fire risk assessments, door audits, compartmentation audits etc as required under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

· Formulate and oversee comprehensive health, safety, and fire documents, including policies, evacuation procedures, based on findings, ensuring clarity and precision.

· Support project management services, including site inspections, audits, tender processes, contract management, and on-site project oversights.

· Quality check the auditing teams reports and sign off, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance.

· Lead and manage a team of Fire Risk Assessors, providing support, and guidance.

· Help develop team capability through mentoring, training, and performance management.

· Support continuous improvement across fire safety processes and policies.

· Collaborate with other teams and clients to ensure all work is delivered to the highest standard.

· Travel to various sites across London and occasionally other regions of England.

· Support the building compliance team.

Qualifications and Skills:

* Minimum Level 4 qualification in Fire Risk Assessment.
* Membership with a relevant fire safety body (e.g., IFE)
* Extensive knowledge of relevant guidance and regulations, such as Approved Document B, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, BS9999 and BS9991, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022, BS9792:2025
* Building Safety Act 2022 Desirable
* Proven experience in conducting risk assessments, particularly for residential high-rise buildings.
* Previous leadership or supervisory experience
* Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, with the ability to write professional reports.
* Must be able to work under pressure and meet required deadlines (Essential).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Self-driven, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
* Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment
* Confident decision-maker, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Additional Requirements:

* Flexibility in working hours is essential, as site visits and client needs may vary.
* Must reside within a commutable distance to Bedford and have access to a main train line into London.
* Full UK driving licence
