Head of Assurance (Part Time/Job share) – Abingdon. Salary: up to £73K (Full Time Equivalent) plus package. Regions: Hertfordshire, London, Oxfordshire.
About the Role
Are you a strategic leader with experience of developing, implementing and leading a risk-based corporate assurance strategy? Our client, the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), seeks a job-share Head of Assurance to provide technical knowledge, expertise and advice to the CEO, UKAEA Board and executive committee on assurance matters. Working with the current Senior Head of Assurance partner, you will lead the Assurance Strategy, operating model and plan that enables continual improvement and the development of a proactive culture across UKAEA. You will provide visible leadership and governance in assurance, embedding risk management as part of business planning. Providing strategic advice on security and business continuity arrangements and delivering training/awareness across all levels of the business are also part of the role. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to integrate good governance practices and foster a proactive culture throughout the organisation.
The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment and is also home to the UK’s MAST-U fusion energy experiment. UKAEA also collaborates with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies in Remote Handling and Materials research.
Responsibilities
* Develop and lead the Assurance Strategy, operating model and plan to drive continuous improvement and risk-based governance.
* Provide visible leadership in QSHE / Risk Management, integrating risk management into business planning.
* Advise on security and business continuity arrangements; deliver training and awareness across the organisation.
* Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to embed good governance and a proactive culture.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* Highly qualified safety, quality or risk management professional.
* Chartered membership of one or more relevant professional organisations (e.g., CMIOSH).
* Knowledge and experience of quality, security, occupational health & safety and environmental management, plus relevant civil and criminal law.
* Ability to provide strong, visible leadership in QSHE / Risk Management and experience in managing enterprise risk and audit.
