Role Summary
This is a senior technical and managerial role responsible for planning, organising, and delivering the operations of all 2nd line activities for the Trust’s ICT infrastructure to users throughout the Trust focusing on Desktop issues (including printing) and maintaining a broad awareness of server and network issues.
Key Responsibilities
 * Manage the field engineering team to resolve technical issues across all Trust sites.
 * Oversee the Workshop that builds new equipment to meet the demands of users and specific development projects.
 * Assist in resolving Severity level 1 issues, suspending other work if necessary.
 * Ensure the team maintains excellent customer-facing skills and a user‑focused approach.
 * Apply technical and problem‑solving skills to manage incidents to resolution.
 * Conduct significant capacity planning to deploy a large team across the Trust in line with Service Level Agreements.
 * Collaborate closely with other ICT managers to ensure the infrastructure operates smoothly, with sufficient resilience and robustness and downtime minimised.
 * Plan, organise and supervise efficient and effective on-site desk‑side 2nd line operations for all Trust IT customers in line with the Digital Strategy.
