Quality Engineer
Whitehaven, Cumbria
Full time Permanent or Contract
JOB PURPOSE
Ensure quality in SSEP, suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce failures, and meet customer/Sellafield specs. Support handover of project documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the delivery of projects Quality Assurance and Control Strategy.
To plan, evaluate & verify quality, proposing and embedding improvements where necessary to ensure delivery is effective, minimises the cost and/or consequence of failure and meets customer/stakeholder requirements.
Assist in the delivery of projects portfolio quality improvement plans in accordance with project or operational plant objectives.
Assist in the delivery of an efficient Learning from Experience process at the project level.
Deploying quality assurance and control activities to support right first -time delivery for their area.
Support the implementation of the SSEP handover process.
Principal Accountabilities
Assist in the monitoring, analysis and reporting on the quality of delivery performance in a specified area through evaluation and assessment of relevant performance trend data, i.e. monthly quality dashboard production.
️ Review and acceptance of relevant project supplier quality submissions.
Assist in the implementation of an agreed Quality and Life Time Record strategy for SSEP.
Assist in the development and agree quality plans for project activity, identifying the level and frequency of inspection required to monitor quality standards in line with customer and Sellafield specifications.
Provision of technical advice to project functions.
Assist in the Identification and propose quality improvements, presenting recommendations to relevant stakeholders and committees and influencing line management to implement changes.
Assist in the investigation of quality related concerns and events, and identify appropriate corrective/preventive action, escalating quality issues to the Quality Manager as appropriate.
Assist in the delivery the required level of Quality Intelligent Customer activities on behalf of the project.
Assist in the evaluation and assessment process in order to report upon the ability of contractors to meet Sellafield specified requirements, participating in Supplier Evaluation Boards or supplier forums as required.
Provide oversight of the quality management system, including advice to users on quality matters in the project work pack.
️ Acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for specific quality disciplines (e.g. verification, or assurance) and advise the team and others working on the project to ensure activities follow the appropriate quality standards.
My profile
Essential Experience:
• Graduate in relevant discipline with experience in project delivery or similar roles.
• Project experience in Sellafield or similar high-risk environments.
• Relevant security clearance to inspect site areas.
• Experience reviewing and accepting Lifetime Quality Records.
• Ability to work effectively in a project team.

Due to the nature of work this role will be delivering and for the protection of certain assets, the successful candidate has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non-ITAR country.
