Application Support Engineer (Secure Applications)
Job Function: Software Engineering
Job Location: Manchester, New Bailey office (UK)
Hybrid working model: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
Due to the nature of the work, you will need to be eligible for security clearance.
About the Role
You will provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end‑users for our organisation's business‑critical applications, ensuring smooth operation and optimal performance of our applications while delivering exceptional customer service.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Contribute to the delivery of the software engineering strategy, enhancing the organization’s ability to deliver high quality code on time and on budget, and implementing measurability and predictability.
* Consult on issues using existing solutions and prior experience across wider industry, supporting the development of bespoke or leading‑edge solutions.
* Execute work with minimal guidance to deliver a technical roadmap that meets business, engineering, and partner needs.
* Contribute to engineering and operational excellence initiatives, implementing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement.
* Support an engineering culture that fosters innovation and creativity while delivering high‑quality products with predictability and reliability.
* Perform debugging and troubleshooting of issues throughout the development process.
* Evaluate, implement, and maintain high‑quality tools and automation processes to support continuous delivery and developer productivity.
* Support the implementation of new architectures, standards, and methods for large‑scale enterprise systems.
* Improve working processes within software engineering responsibilities through data analysis to identify issues and improvement areas.
* Continuously develop and share emerging trends and changes in software engineering with the team.
Essential Skills / Experience
* Solid experience with application troubleshooting techniques and software debugging tools.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with end‑users and team members.
* Experience with incident management tools and ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow).
Desirable Skills / Experience
* Experience or certification in CCNA, Linux (OL & RH), Server Management, AWS and Project Management.
* ITIL certification or knowledge of ITIL processes.
* Knowledge of IT security best practices and data protection regulations.
