Overview
Location: Astec Industries Europe Limited, 3 Bankmore Way East. Under general supervision of the Senior Engineering Manager, the Continuous Improvement Design Engineer is responsible for design efforts from inception through production in new product & continuous improvement designs. This position will focus on material handling equipment for the aggregate industry such as tracked conveyors, hopper feeders and telescopic stackers.
Responsibilities
* Quality Improvement Team (QIT) projects using D8 process
* Lead cost reduction efforts to add equipment value for our customers
* Equipment product improvements
* Engineered to order job assignments
* Assist Service with product support technical issues
* Aid procurement with supply chain issues
* Implement Safety evaluations and improvements to the product line
* Create, check, and maintain thorough engineering specifications and drawings
* Manage engineering changes per established company procedures

Qualifications
Required Criteria
* Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Agriculture, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in equipment design and manufacturing (mechanical, structural, hydraulic and electrical/control system design)
* Proficient with personal computing, Microsoft Office Suite, 3-D CAD software applications (SolidWorks preferred) and ERP systems (Oracle preferred)
* Ability to read, interpret and create engineering drawings and standards
* Understanding of manufacturing practices including cutting, forming and welding of metals
* Good organization and time-management skills
Desired Criteria
* Experience in the design of complete Tracked plant from concept through to production
* Experience in the use of FEA
* Knowledge and experience designing and troubleshooting hydraulic systems
* Working knowledge of a PDM/PLM package
* Understanding of engine, drivetrain, hydraulic and electrical components and systems related to mobile equipment
