Cyber Security Engineer at Tesco
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will develop, implement, and continuously improve Tesco’s cyber security prevention capabilities, both day-to-day and strategically across the Tesco Group.
You will need to understand the changing threat landscape, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure appropriate coverage for the organization. Collaboration with teams such as security operations, detection engineering, risk & compliance, and subsidiary businesses is essential.
This role involves protecting a large and diverse estate of assets and identities, both on-premises and in the public cloud, including servers and user workstations.
Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining technical prevention controls across endpoint and email systems, with a focus on Data Loss Prevention (DLP), system hardening, and secure configuration.
You must ensure prevention capabilities are effective in both on-premises and cloud environments, working at scale across various asset types.
Additional duties may include supporting cybersecurity incidents, security testing, and collaborating with other security teams to enhance automation, standardization, and data protection strategies.
Minimum Requirements
1. Hands-on experience with cybersecurity prevention platforms (antivirus, endpoint protection).
2. Knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
3. Familiarity with security frameworks for data protection and classification methodologies.
4. Understanding of hardening and compliance frameworks like CIS.
5. Knowledge of REST APIs.
