Job overview
An exciting opportunity to serve as the Guardian of Safe Working for Resident Doctors at NBT. This role ensures safe working hours for Resident doctors, contributing to patient safety, as outlined in the 2016 Terms and Conditions of Employment by NHS Employers.
The post holder will report regularly to the Trust Board on compliance and safety issues and collaborate with the Director of Postgraduate Medical Education and PGME team to meet educational requirements.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be a senior medic, independent of management, responsible for safeguarding the terms and conditions for NHS Doctors and Dentists in Training 2016. They will address compliance issues with safe working hours and provide assurance to the Trust on safety standards.
They will champion safe working hours, monitor compliance through exception reports, escalate issues to senior management, and ensure safety concerns are addressed promptly.
Working for our organisation
The postholder will work independently but as part of the Chief Medical Officer's team, with flexible arrangements as agreed with their Clinical Lead/Director.
Responsibilities
Protect the safeguards in the 2016 Terms and Conditions, address compliance issues, and ensure safe working hours for doctors in training. Record and review exception reports, escalate unresolved issues, and ensure immediate risks are addressed.

* Experience managing or overseeing safe working practices or rotas for doctors in training
