Here Is What You Will Need
Knowledge and skills usually acquired through an Associates degree in a related field would be great but don’t stress if you don’t have it as you may have other equivalent knowledge and skills.
Three or more years of telecommunications network experience with at least two years of management experience will get you off to a running start.
An understanding of central office operations, TDM & SONET transport, Cisco switches and routers, Calix EXA & AXOS access networks, SIP protocols, and familiarity with regulations regarding telephone utility operations is indispensable.
Responsibilities
You would be responsible for the oversight of all aspects of the Network Operations department under the direction of the VP of Competitive Services.
This role directs and coordinates all network operations, including managing the installation, replacement, removal, and maintenance of broadband routing, transport, and access equipment, broadband support servers, and voice switching facilities.
The role is also responsible for developing training and supervisory controls for network operations while ensuring staff understands preventive maintenance and safety procedures for all equipment.
The director will oversee the service, maintenance, and upgrades to the network infrastructure and develop strategies for delivering leading-edge services to a wide range of subscribers.
The director will build relationships with vendors to implement appropriate systems.
