Payroll Assistant (Part time)
£32,000-£35,000 pro rata, Preston & Hybrid, 20-30 hours, Great team and working culture.
We are recruiting an experienced Payroll specialist for a flexible part‑time role between 20‑30 hours.
This role will be well suited to experienced payroll administrators who are seeking to achieve a more favourable work/life balance.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
* Collating monthly payroll data for circa 400 staff
* Resolving internal/external queries
* Reconciling payroll entries
* Ensuring compliance with statutory benchmarks
* Calculating maternity/paternity pay
* Processing new starters and staff departures
* Administration of company benefits, overtime, commissions, etc.
* Maintenance of accurate employee records
* Reporting pension data to scheme advisors
* Other ad‑hoc duties
Required Skills and Experience
* At least 2 years' payroll experience
* Able to efficiently manage and organise their workload
* Microsoft Excel and Sage proficient
* Professionalism and confidentiality
* Keeping up to date with payroll practices and legislation
* A good understanding of PAYE, NI, RTI, SMP, SSP and other HMRC statutory regulations
* Exceptional attention to detail
* Proactive and self‑motivated in nature
* Able to work efficiently towards deadlines
