Job Overview
We are looking for an ENT Consultant Surgeon for a 1‑year fixed‑term post who can provide a comprehensive general ENT service in a busy acute trust on the outskirts of London.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a comprehensive general ENT service in a busy acute trust
* Competent in all routine ENT surgery, including Otology, Rhinology, Paediatric ENT and Head and Neck cancer surgery; adequate experience in general ENT with a preference for Benign Head and Neck
* Act as Head and Neck Cancer Lead, managing H+N MDT meetings, planning the MDT, liaising with CNSs, Head and Neck cancer surgeons and oncologists at UCLH and North Middlesex hospitals, and working with OMFS and Thyroid Surgery teams
* Make independent decisions regarding patient treatment plans and conduct independent theatre sessions on a broad range of ENT conditions
* Deal with difficult patients in an acute setting and manage patient expectations according to the treatment plan
* Provide ENT on‑call support to the local community, manage all aspects of ENT trauma, and deliver the majority of service and treatment in the A&E setting to ambulatory patients as part of the 1:12 on‑call rota based at Broomfield Hospital
Qualifications
* ENT Consultant with specialty experience and competency in routine ENT surgery across Otology, Rhinology, Paediatric, and Head and Neck cancer surgery
* Ability to lead MDT meetings and work collaboratively with CNSs, surgeons, oncologists, OMFS and Thyroid Surgery teams
* Independent decision‑making, theatre leadership, and management in an acute setting
* Experience dealing with difficult patients and managing expectations
