Role: Programme/Project Planner
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid – 1 Days In-Office)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
Contract: Fixed-Term (Finishes December 2026)
Network IT is recruiting for a Programme/Project Planner to join a major transformation programme. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing and embedding best practice planning standards across projects and programmes, ensuring plans, resources, and dependencies are managed effectively to deliver on time and to scope.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of ensuring that projects are not only well-planned but also implemented correctly, with stakeholders engaged, aligned, and completing their responsibilities on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement planning standards, frameworks, and best practice across projects and programmes.
2. Own, maintain, and update project and programme plans, highlighting risks, issues, and dependencies.
3. Facilitate the creation of roadmaps, delivery plans, resource plans, and benefit realisation plans.
4. Monitor progress, forecast missed milestones, and provide impact assessments.
5. Manage and maintain resource allocation, identifying clashes or shortages.
6. Work with stakeholders to ensure delivery commitments are understood and achieved, driving accountability where needed.
7. Support project managers and workstream leads with estimating, reporting, and quality reviews.
8. Contribute to the design and delivery of training materials to develop planning maturity.
9. Ensure alignment between programme delivery and business-as-usual activities.
10. Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members.
Experience Requirements
11. Proven ability to plan and manage complex programmes and projects, including budgets, resources, and timelines.
12. Strong experience using planning tools (e.g. Microsoft Project) to track and report efficiently.
13. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and ensure stakeholders deliver on agreed actions.
14. Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
15. Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) or equivalent experience.
16. Degree or equivalent professional qualifications.
