We are looking to recruit a full-time Facilities Assistant (Porter) post of 37.5 hrs per week to work at Birch Hill Hospital within Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust
Based at Birch Hill Hospital working a rota (5 over 7) basis Mon – Sun working between the hours of 7am – 6pm.
Main duties of the job
The postholder shall carry out a range of portering services across in-patient wards, community sites and administrative areas. Portering duties shall include:
• Delivery and collection of meal trolleys, pot trolleys and catering supplies
• Delivery and collection of clean and soiled linen
• Delivery and collection of mail
• Delivery and stores and supplies
• Removal of waste (general, clinical, confidential waste and food waste)
• Delivery and collection of pharmacy items, pathology samples etc
• Patient note transfer from department to department • Delivery of stock and non-stock items to all wards and departments AFC 6/9/23 JME-215-23 Facilities Assistant (Porter) Band 2
• Litter picking and general tidying across the Birch Hill Hospital grounds
• Cleaning of the external bin stores at Birch Hill Hospital
• Putting stores away as required
• Drive and operate the fleet vehicle (Luton van or similar) in line with the Trust Fleet Policy, which includes:

Qualifications and training
Essential criteria
* NVQ 2 or equivalent experience + Full UK Driving License
* Experience of operating a vehicle and maintaining vehicle records
* Knowledge of different Portering services in the NHS
* Knowledge of basic Health and Safety
* Good Laison and communication skills, punctual and reliable, complete training by computer
Desirable criteria
* Medical Gas training
* Experience of Portering and /or distribution in a healthcare environment
* Knowledge of different waste streams, health and safety techniques
* Basic IT and good communication skills
