Role Purpose Our Sunderland Marine team is offering a unique opportunity to apply your administrative skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. As Underwriting Executive, you’ll be responsible for handling member accounts within the sector, including issuance of documentation and maintaining service levels. As a key liaison for the team, you’ll ensure data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and smooth day-to-day operations. What will you be doing? Key Responsibilities General Following rules, procedures and guidelines of the company and operate within authority levels, as stipulated. As account handler, responsible for documentation and maintaining relationships with the member/broker/policyholder for allocated accounts. Setting up and maintaining accurate data entries for the member/broker/policyholder in all parts of the underwriting system. Producing prompt and accurate entry documentation to provide evidence of insurance for new attachments and new members. Issuing of blue cards in accordance with the relevant Convention. Producing the documentation necessary for members to comply with MLC. Ensuring approval of documentation is obtained, as required before sending externally. Sending documentation externally to member/broker/policyholder as applicable. Where vessels are cancelled or withdrawn, updating records to issue appropriate documentation and advice of cancellation to appropriate third parties. Acknowledging notification of cancellations within prescribed timescales, subject to the appropriate approval. Carrying out sanction checks and ensure they are carried out and filed in accordance with the procedures. Clearing sanctions matches and perform batch checks as required. Ensuring timely and effective administration of underwriting systems and databases to support the Underwriting team including setting up clauses, organisations, ports, vessel types, adding brokers and ensuring that templates are updated. Carrying out production of reports and data analysis, including exception reports. Ensuring data is accurate and regular checks and reviews are carried out in line with data policies and guidelines. Acknowledging member/broker/policyholder instructions relating to MTA’s, within prescribed timescales and subject to the appropriate approval. Renewal Updating the underwriting systems with renewal terms changes and produce all relevant documentation appropriate to the entry. Obtaining approval of documentation before sending externally, as required. Miscellaneous Working with other departments such as Claims, Finance, Compliance and IT to ensure excellent customer service. About You Skills/Qualifications/Experience Essential Educated to at least GCSE/A-Level or equivalent IT Literate with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems Efficient and effective administration skills Communicates effectively Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to cope with demanding workloads Ability to work as part of a team
